Members of the Spanish crowd in attendance at the country’s meeting with Cabo Verde on Monday have made use of the opportunity to take firm aim at Marc Cucurella.
This of course comes fresh off the defender sealing a big-money transfer at club level.
Left-back Cucurella has caused quite a stir in his home country over the last 24 hours, after agreeing to bring his stint on the books of Chelsea to a close, in favour of linking up with Real Madrid.

Not only that, but Cucurella [reiterated](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c8dlgd8562yo) his Blaugrana favour on a whole host of occasions since his departure.
The Barca contingent in attendance at Spain’s World Cup opener against Cabo Verde on Monday, in turn, felt it necessary to voice their collective opinion on the decision of the club’s former stopper to join their arch rivals.
As noted by journalist Felipe Cardenas of The Athletic:
‘A section of Barcelona fans are booing Marc Cucurella with every touch. They’ve just yelled ‘Judas’ at the newly minted Real Madrid full-back.’
> Marc Cucurella’s move to Real Madrid from Chelsea was confirmed earlier today, which means Spain’s 2026 World Cup squad is no longer the nation’s first without any players representing the club.
