Morgan Rogers has already made his thoughts clear on Manchester United ahead of a potential transfer by saying "there is no team bigger".

The Aston Villa midfielder is one of the most in-demand players this summer. Rogers, 23, has become one of Villa’s standout players over the past two years, registering 14 goals and 12 assists in all competitions this season.

That has unsurprisingly led to interest from the likes of United and Arsenal, though Villa are expected to demand over £90million for their talisman. The Manchester Evening News reported at the beginning of May that a move is being considered for Rogers.

Michael Carrick is expected to look to bolster his midfield and left-wing, both positions where Rogers can play, this summer, while Arsenal are desperate to sign a left-winger.

Rogers knows Carrick form their time together at Middlesbrough and while he can play on the left, he could also be a long-term successor to Bruno Fernandes in the middle.

Sky Sports France now reports that the Reds have made contact with Villa to explore a possible deal, while the Gunners are said to have contacted his agent.

Yet, the England international’s previous comments, having deemed United to be a bigger club, indicate he may prefer to sign for the Old Trafford side over the Premier League champions if it comes down to a straight shootout between the two for his services.

Speaking in December following Villa's 2-1 win over United, in which he scored both goals, Rogers said: "It's massive. Every game is important, there's no bigger team than United.

"They came here to play, they're a tough team to play against and we've not had a great record against them recently so we knew we had to put it right and we're happy with the three points."

Rogers is reportedly interested in leaving Villa to take on a new challenge this summer. But, given they have qualified for the Champions League, he is not actively pushing for a move away.

When asked recently whether transfer speculation had impacted his on-field output, the playmaker told The Rest Is Football: "I think the first time it ever happened it was [impactful].

"You’re in an uncomfortable spot of not realising that people have so much interest in you and you’re not quite realising that. But as you get older and gain experience along the way, you know that comes with it and 95 per cent of it is just noise.

"You hear it, course you do. You can’t help not. You know it’s there but you’ve got to use it in a positive way. You just try and get on with your game and just focus."
