Everything you need to know about what the future holds for Man United forward Marcus Rashford...
United have decided to try and find a permanent buyer for Marcus Rashford as his loan spell at Barcelona officially comes to an end. The England international spent the recent campaign on a season-long loan at the Camp Nou after his relationship fractured with former manager Ruben Amorim.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that the Catalan club has decided not to trigger the £26m clause to buy the winger, prompting Rashford to formally head back to Old Trafford.
The Manchester Evening News understands that, following the expiration of this clause on Monday, United will actively look for alternative permanent buyers for the academy graduate starting today. Club management is eager to clear his £325,000 pounds a week salary to protect their newly established wage structure.
Furthermore, leadership feels his high wages do not fit a player who would lack a guaranteed starting role over existing options like Matheus Cunha or Patrick Dorgu.
While Barcelona remain open to discussing a brand-new loan arrangement, United are firmly prioritising a permanent sale over another temporary departure.
Amid the uncertainty, Bayern Munich have entered the picture as a potential suitor, though Rashford's substantial salary demand remains a major hurdle for the German club.
The decision has been finalised that Rashford will not be reintegrated into the first-team squad under the leadership of current head coach Michael Carrick.
Marca reported on Sunday that Rashford remains hopeful he could return to Barca this summer and the club's manager, Hansi Flick, personally told the winger he is 'counting on him'.
