Arsenal are set to face strong competition from local rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of top midfield target Sandro Tonali. As reported by journalist Matteo Moretto, Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi has identified his compatriot as their primary target to bolster their midfield ranks.
Tonali has emerged as one of the most wanted players this summer following Newcastle United's disappointing season. Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen on the Italian to bolster his Premier League-winning side.
Manchester United and Manchester City have also been heavily linked with the 26-year-old in recent weeks. Newcastle United are thought to be open to selling their midfield dynamo but want around £100 million for his services.
Tonali has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League since his reported £60 million move to Newcastle United from AC Milan. He has made 110 appearances for the Magpies till date scoring 10 goals and producing 10 assists.
Capped 32 times for Italy, Tonali is an all-round midfielder with exceptional technical attributes as well as physical attributes. He is capable of playing either as a number six or a number eight.
Arsenal reportedly want the Italy international to partner with their midfield powerhouse Declan Rice in the middle of the park. However, they will have to fend off several clubs if they have to acquire his signature.
