Liverpool has already wrapped up its first signing of the summer transfer window, with further additions expected to follow. Jeremy Jacquet is poised to join from Rennes following a £60million deal, though he will not be working under the manager who sanctioned his move.

Arne Slot was dismissed at the end of May, with Andoni Iraola named as his successor. The incoming boss will undoubtedly have his own priorities in the transfer market, but the recruitment team continue to keep tabs on targets including Yan Diomande.

Ivorian winger Diomande caught the eye as his nation kicked off their World Cup campaign with a late triumph over Ecuador. The RB Leipzig star could be among several new faces at Liverpool, while some notable departures may also come to fruition on top of the confirmed exits of two-time title winners Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson. Iraola may also breathe new life into certain players who struggled for form or game time under Slot's stewardship. Cote d'Ivoire manager Emerse Fae played down the Liverpool speculation surrounding Yan Diomande ahead of this summer while acknowledging the interest, reports the Liverpool Echo..

The winger has also attracted attention from Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, although RB Leipzig are holding out for in excess of £80m for the 19 year old.

"When we were in France, during the preparation, journalists told me he was about to sign with PSG," Fae said. "Here, they tell me he's about to sign with Liverpool!".

"I don't know, but for now, he will focus on the World Cup, and then afterwards, he can think about the rest of his career.

"Yan - what can I say? I can't put it into words. He's very talented, but beyond the talent, he's very young and he'll improve."

Bajcetic can be 'new signing'

The arrival of new Anfield boss Iraola looks set to offer certain players a fresh lease of life following a difficult 2025/26 campaign. Stefan Bajcetic is among those who could benefit, having endured a torrid run of injuries that kept him off the pitch entirely throughout last season.

The Spain Under-21 international last featured in May 2025 during his loan stint at Las Palmas, and will be keen to make an impression in the final year of his Liverpool contract.

"If you are that young and you've been out for so long, the only thing you need is playing time," former Reds boss Arne Slot remarked ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, which Bajcetic started on loan at Red Bull Salzburg before concluding in Spain.

"He could have playing time over here, but we've got six or seven very good midfielders, so his playing time here will always be more limited than we expect him to play at Salzburg."
