Liverpool fans make Diomande plea

Liverpool fans have urged the club to make Yan Diomande the first signing under Andoni Iraola after his impressive World Cup debut.

The RB Leipzig winger has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, with the Egypt international set to leave officially on June 30.

Last week, The Athletic reported that the Reds had opened talks with Leipzig in an attempt to reach an agreement for Diomande, who is thought to have a price-tag in the region of €100million (£86.4million).

For now though, Diomande’s focus is on the World Cup and he was handed a start by Emerse Fae in Ivory Coast’s Group E opener against Ecuador on Monday morning (UK time).

While, Manchester United’s Amad Diallo scored the winning goal in stoppage time, arguably the major talking point from the game was Diomande’s overall performance.

Ayyoub Bouaddi responds to Arsenal transfer links

Ayyoub Bouaddi has responded to the growing transfer interest in him after starring in Morocco's opening World Cup match.

The 18-year-old started in midfield against Brazil on Saturday night and was superb in a 1-1 draw.

Only the two Brazilian centre-backs had more touches in the match than Bouaddi, who was also key to Morocco's press and made four tackles.

There were already plenty of clubs keeping tabs on Bouaddi after his impressive season for Lille but that is only set to intensify throughout the World Cup.

Arsenal are among those interested in the midfielder and have held initial talks. Lille are said to value Bouaddi at around £70million.

That speculation over his future was put to Bouaddi after the match with Brazil and he admitted he liked to hear there was that interest.

Pierre Sage confirmed as new Crystal Palace manager

Pierre Sage said he hopes to build on Oliver Glasner’s legacy after he was appointed head coach of Crystal Palace.

Glasner left south-east London having won three trophies in just over 12 months, adding the Conference League to the trophy cabinet in his final match in charge.

The FA Cup he won in 2025 was the club’s first major honour.

Sage has now been confirmed as the Austrian’s successor, signing a three-year deal after calling time on a successful spell in his native France with Lens.

He was named this season’s Ligue 1 Manager of the Year after steering Lens to a second-place finish, and also won the Coupe de France, beating Nice 3-1 in the final.

Chelsea plan two major signings after Marc Cucurella sale

Chelsea plan to reinvest in their squad by signing at least two top players this summer, after agreeing to sell Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid, writes Dom Smith.

The completion of Cucurella’s move to the Bernabeu - worth up to £51.8million including add-ons - came on Sunday after talks had progressed at pace.

Cucurella’s exit after the World Cup campaign with Spain will leave Jorrel Hato, 20, as the only senior left-back at Stamford Bridge.

But Standard Sport understands that Chelsea plan to add the money recouped from Cucurella’s sale to the funds they have already made available for the summer window.

While they could end up making multiple signings, at least two are set to be starting-level talents.

Josko Gvardiol has agreed a new contract with Manchester City.

The versatile Croatian defender missed most of the second half of the season following a leg break suffered against Chelsea in January, but remains an important player at the Etihad Stadium.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Gvardiol has penned a new five-year deal that will last until the summer of 2031, reflecting his importance to sporting director Hugo Viana and incoming head coach Enzo Maresca.

Gvardiol - along with Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori - had been of interest to Real Madrid, before they clinched deals for both Ibrahima Konate and Marc Cucurella.

Barcelona had also been frequently linked with the 24-year-old.

Jan Paul van Hecke reveals 'clarity' amid Spurs links

Tottenham transfer target Jan Paul van Hecke has revealed clarity over his future will come after the 2026 World Cup.

Spurs have seen two bids for the Brighton centre-back rejected, though a third offer is thought to be imminent with the Van Hecke said to be keen on a reunion with former manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Brighton value the 26-year-old at around £70million, despite the defender approaching the final 12 months of his contract at the Amex Stadium.

The Netherlands international has spoken out about his future for the first time since links to Tottenham emerged.

Diomande transfer latest

Ivory Coast head coach Emerse Fae has said Yan Diomande is entirely focused on the ongoing World Cup campaign amid reports linking him with a move to Liverpool or Paris Saint-Germain.

"When we were in France, during the preparation, journalists told me he was about to sign with PSG," Fae said after Ivory Coast's 1-0 win against Ecuador.

"Here, they tell me he's about to sign with Liverpool!

"I don't know, but for now, he will focus on the World Cup, and then afterwards, he can think about the rest of his career."
