Manchester United are in the running with Real Madrid to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, according to Sky Sport Germany.
The Red Devils are poised to strengthen their midfield department and have already secured an agreement to land Ederson from Atalanta.
The club’s hierarchy are also keen on landing West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes, but they are unlikely to pay over the odds for the Portuguese ace.
Sky Sport Germany now claim that Man Utd are ‘in the running’ to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha, but they are not alone in the transfer race.
Real Madrid are also in the pursuit, with manager Jose Mourinho a huge admirer.
Nmecha speculation could be agent-driven
The 25-year-old has been a key player for Dortmund over the past few years. He made eight goal contributions from 42 appearances in all competitions last term.
The German star was also decent with his distribution, completing 32 passes with an accuracy of 87 percent. He won four duels while making four ball recoveries per game.
However, the Red Devils should be wary of the midfielder’s injury record. He has been sidelined due to knee and hip injuries in each of the previous three league campaigns.
This is a potential concern which could hamper his prospects of joining United. Furthermore, the club could be reluctant to meet the £61 million price tag to purchase him.
The speculation could be agent-driven rather than United making an enquiry. Nmecha recently starred for Germany against Curacao at the World Cup, scoring a brilliant opening goal.
His entourage are using the moment to trigger speculation. United are probably being used as a negotiation tool to secure the midfielder a new challenge away from Dortmund.
