Manchester City reach agreement for signing – 5-year contract for player, to sign in ‘coming days’

Paris Saint-Germain’s Hermann Malonga is on his way to Manchester City, according to multiple claims from France.

The 18-year-old left FC Melun as a free agent for AS Lieusaint Football Jugend in 2017. A year later, he moved to US Sénart-Moissy Jugend, again on a free transfer.

After three years with the latter, Malonga moved to PSG’s academy in 2021.

With a contract expiring at the end of this month, Manchester City will sign the defender for nothing this summer.

Snubs PSG offer for Manchester City

Hermann Malonga has so far represented PSG U17s and U19s but is yet to make his first team debut. That didn’t stop the Champions League winners from offering him a contract extension.

That’s according to Le Parisien, who state the France U17 international decides to snub PSG’s renewal offer in favour of Manchester City. In fact, he has reached an agreement with the Premier League side for a five-year contract.

The Citizens regularly scouted him and his performances in the UEFA Youth League convinced them.

There’s belief at the Etihad that he has very high potential. Their initial plan is to send him out on loan so that he continues his development.

Another newspaper, L’Equipe, also report Malonga has agreed a five-year deal with the English club. He is expected to sign for Manchester City in the ‘coming days’.

Several PSG coaches believed he has the potential to play for the first team in the medium term, and the FA Cup winners also share the same view.

As part of Manchester City’s plan, the Frenchman will initially go out on loan and then try to establish himself with their first team.

Malonga won’t be short of loan options

Manchester City owners, the City Football Group, also own ES Troyes AC and Lommel SK and have a stake in Girona.

Hermann Malonga has options to join one of them or move to another club on loan this summer.

As well as signing the Frenchman, the Citizens are working on renewing Joško Gvardiol’s contract.

On Monday, Sport Witness relayed news sporting director Hugo Viana is working hard to secure the Croatian’s future at least until 2032. There’s confidence Gvardiol will sign an extension before the start of next season.
