Liverpool fans may have to wait for the club to make some moves in the summer transfer window as Andoni Iraola is given time to assess his new squad.
It’s all change at Anfield after Arne Slot was fired as head coach following a poor second season in charge, with Iraola appointed as his successor after leading Bournemouth to European qualification for the first time in its history.
The new Liverpool boss will be tasked with getting Liverpool firing again after a marked dip following last year’s title triumph, although it seems fans will be left waiting for new arrivals in the squad.
According to The Athletic, there is an acceptance internally at Anfield that business is more likely to happen later in the transfer window, due to the World Cup and Iraola’s desire to asses the squad he’s inherited.
Speaking after his appointment was confirmed, Iraola said: "We've analyzed Liverpool a lot – possible weaknesses, the strengths.
“I think we have a very good squad. I think there is still work to do, like normally in every club in this moment of the season.

"But right now, for me, the thing is to value especially the players that we have right now in the squad.
"For me, and I will tell them, [they] are all new signings. For me, you are all new signings, and I think we have a lot of quality in our squad, and really looking forward to working with them.
"I only had, I think, Milos [Kerkez] in the squad before – I know a couple. I've been talking to a couple before, but it will be lovely also to play again with Milos, try to improve him, try to help him in his development. Yeah, definitely looking forward to it."

There are some obvious areas for Liverpool to target in the transfer window, with at least one new winger likely to be the main priority following Mohamed Salah’s departure from the club.

Yan Diomande is the Reds’ primary target, with the 19-year-old showcasing his talent with the Ivory Coast at the World Cup at the weekend. Liverpool has made contact with RB Leipzig, with The Athletic indicating that the German club wants in excess of $151 million to convince it to sell.
Midfielders and defenders could also be targeted, with Ibrahima Konate’s exit weakening the latter area, despite Jeremy Jacquet being set to complete his move from Rennes.
