It is the start of a new week and time to carry on with our newly introduced spin-off from our ‘Legends’ series whereby we look at those who impressed on loan.
The first I this new series saw us focus on – Rory Allen – while the second article saw – Sean Dyche – fall under the microscope.
Today, for the third in our series, I will be taking a look at Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
The Hatters dipped into the loan market to bring a young central midfielder to the club, signing, from Leicester City, in October 2020.
His name was Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and although he had just signed a new 4-year-deal with Leicester City, the youngster eagerly snapped up the chance to play regular first team football, something the Hatters had promised him.
From the off it was clear that Dewsbury-Hall had an exciting career ahead of him, on the ball, he was able to dictate play, drive forward with the ball, make interceptions, win the ball and provide those forward passes that created chances for the strikers.
He made his debut for Luton Town Football Club, against Sheffield Wednesday, on 24-October, and netted his first Hatters goal against Bristol City during the festive period.
Such were his contributions to the team, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was to win the Hatters Player of the Month on FOUR occasions.
During the 2020/2021 season, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was to make 40 appearances, scoring on 3 occasions, with his goals coming against:
Bristol City ((h)
AFC Bournemouth (a)
Queens Park Rangers (a)
His contribution to the Hatters cause was recognised at the end-off-the-season awards with the loan player scooping 4 awards, including the prestigious Players’ Player of the Year.
With the season over, it was muted, by the Hatters support, that, just perhaps, Luton Town might be able to secure his services for another season, on loan, but it wasn’t to be, Leicester City had other ideas.
But it didn’t take long for the Premier League big guns to notice his talent and Chelsea persuaded Leicester City to sell them the player for £30,000,000, although Kiernan found it hard to nail down a first team place, in such a talented squad, making just 13 appearances before he was sold to Everton, where he is currently plying his trade.
What are your memories of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall during his spell with the Hatters?
