Manchester United’s summer rebuild is continuing under Michael Carrick as the club looks to create a squad capable of challenging again.

The Red Devils have already moved quickly in the transfer market, securing an agreement to bring Ederson in from Atalanta as they strengthen the middle of the pitch.

Further additions are expected at Old Trafford, with United still prioritising another midfielder and West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes remaining one of the names high on their shortlist.

However, the club is also exploring options in other areas, with United now believed to have made contact with West Ham regarding winger Crysencio Summerville, as reported by The Athletic.

The Dutch attacker has emerged as a possible target as the Red Devils assess their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.

According to The Athletic, United are among several clubs monitoring Summerville, who has continued to raise his profile after impressing for the Netherlands at the World Cup against Japan in their opener.

The 24-year-old recently produced a standout moment on the international stage, scoring a brilliant goal during the Netherlands’ 2-2 draw with Japan.

Crysencio Summerville is viewed as one of West Ham’s most valuable assets following their relegation, with the London club expected to face pressure to sell some of their key players.

His ability to operate across the attack has made him an attractive option for United, especially with uncertainty surrounding Marcus Rashford’s future.

Rashford has returned to Old Trafford after Barcelona failed to activate the permanent purchase option included in his loan deal, meaning United must now decide whether to keep him or look elsewhere.

If the England international moves on, Summerville could become a more realistic option for Carrick’s side.

United enjoyed success last summer by recruiting proven Premier League attackers, with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo both making an immediate impact after arriving.

Crysencio Summerville would offer similar familiarity with English football, having already proven himself in the league.

The winger is expected to cost around £50 million due to his current contract situation, with West Ham holding him until 2029.

Primarily used as a left-sided forward, Summerville’s game is built around his explosive pace, low centre of gravity and ability to attack defenders one-on-one.

Standing at around 5ft 9in, the Dutchman has often found success by using his speed and movement rather than physicality.

His strongest campaign came during his time at Leeds United in the 2023/24 season, when he produced 19 goals and 9 assists across 43 appearances.

Last season at West Ham, he recorded 7 goals and 5 assists in 34 matches, showing he can still contribute at Premier League level.

While midfield remains United’s main priority, Summerville’s profile could make him a player to watch if the club decides to add more firepower out wide.
