What Chelsea plan to do with the£52m they’ve earned from Marc Cucurella sale

Real Madrid announced the signing of Spain defender Marc Cucurella from Chelsea on Monday.

It is a major boost for their new manager Jose Mourinho, who only wanted to sign Cucurella for the left-back position.

With Cucurella no longer at Chelsea, it means Jorrel Hato could become the team’s first-choice left-back next season.

Who would you rather see at left-back next season, Jorrel Hato or Lewis Hall?

Chelsea to add Marc Cucurella cash to transfer budget

Many Chelsea supporters would not have wanted to see Cucurella leave Stamford Bridge. The 27-year-old was one of the team’s most experienced players and is a terrific defender.

However, the good news is that Chelsea will use the money that they have received to strengthen their squad.

As per The Standard, Chelsea are going to add the £51.8m they have just raked in from Cucurella’s sale to their transfer budget.

It has been a quiet summer so far, with the Blues yet to bring anyone in. But they are expected to do some business between now and the end of the transfer window.

It has been claimed that Chelsea are working on up to four targets at this very moment. A new central defender and attacker are thought to be their priorities.

Two top signings Chelsea could make this summer

According to the same Standard report, Chelsea want to sign two “starting-level” players. As they prioritise a centre-half, one of those starting-level players could be Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix.

Lacroix was linked with a move to Chelsea in April, and there have been fresh reports claiming that the Blues remain interested in the Frenchman.

Further up the pitch, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers could be the other big signing Chelsea make this summer.

Rogers continues to be linked with Chelsea and would be an addition that would improve their attack.

The England international is a much more productive player than Alejandro Garnacho, for example, so would be a huge upgrade on him on the left flank. However, there is expected to be a lot of competition for Rogers’ signature.
