Following a successful loan spell last season, Axel Disasi will leave Chelsea in the summer.
The 28-year-old had an excellent individual campaign with West Ham, and although the Hammers were relegated, Disasi did his case to stay in Europe's big leagues no harm.
Even though West Ham would've liked to sign the Frenchman permanently, their relegation to the Championship has quashed any hopes they had.
But that doesn't mean Disasi will be short of opportunities.
Newcastle United
Despite missing out on European football next season, Newcastle United need greater depth in defence.
Disasi is internationally experienced, physically dominant, comfortable in a back four. He would not necessarily arrive at St. James' Park as a guaranteed starter, but he'd be an ideal squad player who can cover multiple defensive positions.
The biggest attraction for the Magpies could be that Chelsea are unlikely to demand anything close to the £38 million they paid Monaco in 2023, and that would make him a relatively low-risk addition for Eddie Howe.
Roma
A move to Italy could make a lot of sense for Disasi.
Serie A is a notoriously defensive-heavy league. It suits defenders who rely on positioning, physicality and tactical discipline.
Roma have been linked with Disasi in the past but Chelsea's softened stance could finally lead to the Italian club getting a deal over the line.
Monaco
Sometimes the best move is going back to your homeland.
Although Disasi came through Paris FC's youth academy, it was at Monaco where he really established himself as a senior player.
The 28-year-old enjoyed the best period of his club career at the Stade Louis II.
After making 129 appearances for the French side, he established himself as one of Ligue 1's best centre-backs. That level of form is what led to Chelsea paying £38.5 million for him in 2023.
Disasi has also spoken about his time at Monaco with great affection in the past.
Speaking to French outlet La Media Carre last year about his loan to West Ham materialised, Disasi said:“I had three incredible years at Monaco. When they came in, all the memories came back. Monaco is home.
"I hoped that Chelsea would find a solution to allow me to leave on loan. I pushed until the last minute to go to Monaco.”
