Manchester United’s search for attacking reinforcements has already intensified this summer.
Reports emerged today that the club are targeting Crysencio Summerville ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
At the same time, another player who had attracted attention from Old Trafford appears set to continue his career elsewhere.
According to Diario AS, Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of Spanish forward Victor Munoz in a deal that has also involved Real Madrid retaining a buy-back option.
The report claims the highly-rated attacker attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Liverpool.
However, Munoz always viewed a move to Newcastle as the most attractive option.
The forward is currently away with Spain at the World Cup and has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign that has significantly raised his profile across Europe.
AS states that the player’s priority throughout negotiations was finding regular first-team football, something he believes Newcastle can offer immediately.
Manchester United supporters may also recognise another Newcastle name linked with the club in recent weeks.
Defender Lewis Hall has been repeatedly mentioned as a possible target for United as Michael Carrick looks to strengthen his squad ahead of a return to Champions League football.
However, it appears Newcastle are winning this particular transfer battle.
According to AS, Real Madrid have negotiated a buy-back clause as part of the agreement, ensuring they retain control over Munoz’s long-term future should he continue his rapid development in the Premier League.
The Spanish giants reportedly chose not to bring him back this summer, instead allowing the player and his representatives to decide on the next stage of his career.
Barcelona are also said to have explored a potential move, but the player ultimately favoured a switch to St James’ Park.
The deal is expected to provide Newcastle with another exciting young attacking option, while Real Madrid will continue monitoring his progress closely thanks to the buy-back arrangement included in the agreement.
