From Italy: What’s going with AC Milan, Chelsea and Bimringham City’s Aurelien Guernier

**AC Milan are close to signing Aurelien Guernier from Birmingham City, having advanced in talks for the Blues winger.**

[Journalist Gianluca di Marzio reports](https://www.gianlucadimarzio.com/calciomercato/milan-guernier-birmingham-contatti-corso-493608) on the situation around the Birmingham U18 today and the progressing move.

**Birmingham City starlet targeted**

------------------------------------

The Italian journalist reports that the Rossoneri are closing to signing Aurelien Guernier from Birmingham. Strasbourg are also interested, but Milan are ahead of them.

He explains that Milan are continuing to move forward in the transfer market despite being in a transition period related to their choice of a new sporting director. They’re in talks with several players for the present and the future.

Guernier is among them. Contacts are already underway for a deal that would involve a process between the First Team and their Milan Futuro team. The Italian giants want to focus on youth development, and Guernier falls into that category.

Milan are close to finalising the signing of the English talent. Chelsea and Strasbourg are also interested in the player, working together as they usually do, but Milan are ahead of them at this moment in time.

Chelsea’s idea would be presumably be to sign and then loan out to Strasbourg.

**Training compensation to be paid**

------------------------------------

Any deal for the 18-year-old will be based on the value of his training compensation. There’s no mention of that figure at this moment in time.

The move for Guernier is confirmation of the ongoing work of AC Milan’s scouting team, which is increasingly focused on finding youth talent to develop in the medium to long term. It’s part of a new look strategy for the club.

Guernier has been impressing in Birmingham’s youth ranks, with three goals and three assists in 25 games for their U18s and U21s to date. Three goals and one assist came in 15 games in Premier League 2 this season.

That’s seemingly caught the eye of Milan’s scouts. They’re now pushing through a deal, seemingly looking to beat any potential competition from Chelsea and Strasbourg.
