Andrea Cambiaso’s Preferred Next Club Revealed As Journalist Confirms Chelsea“Interest”In Juventus Star

**Chelsea transfer target Andrea Cambiaso’s “first option” would be to join Barcelona, according to _SportItalia_ reporter Gianluigi Longari.**

Posting on his [X account](https://x.com/Glongari/status/2066594263131955708), Longari confirmed that the Blues do hold an “interest” in the Juventus defender, but there are no guarantees that he will make the switch to Stamford Bridge:

“Chelsea’s exploratory interest in Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso continues, especially after the sale of Cucurella. The change in management could also alter the exit prospects. Barça remains Cambiaso’s first option, with Inter also following as an alternative to Marco Palestra.”

As Longari also mentions, Xabi Alonso’s side could face a battle with Serie A champions Inter Milan, as well as Barca, if they do decide that Cambiaso is their top target to strengthen the left-hand side of the defence.

Alonso may want Cambiaso as a wingback

--------------------------------------

The Italian international has played the majority of his 132 matches for Juve as part of a back five. He has started 81 times in that system (44 on the left and 37 on the right).

If Alonso does want to play the formation that brought him so much success at Bayer Leverkusen, then Cambiaso would be a good fit.

His form has fluctuated over the past couple of seasons, and there are doubts about his defensive qualities, but he is a natural wingback.

Chelsea have been linked with several other targets

---------------------------------------------------

Following Marc Cucurella’s move to Real Madrid, there has been a lot of speculation about potential replacements.

Cambiaso is clearly one of those on the shortlist, but he is not the only one under consideration. Sporting Lisbon’s Maxi Araujo, Real Madrid’s Alvaro Carreras and Newcastle’s Lewis Hall are all said to be in the mix.
