Thomas Tuchel has snubbed Trent Alexander-Arnold again by selecting Trevoh Chalobah to replace injured England defender Tino Livramento.

Livramento has picked up a calf injury which will prevent him from featuring for the Three Lions in the USA, Mexico and Canada. Livramento was one of the full backs selected in the squad, as well as Reece James, Djed Spence, Jarell Quansah and Nico O'Reilly.

Alexander-Arnold being left out of the original squad was a big surprise for many in the country. The fact the Real Madrid defender has been snubbed by Tuchel again is a fresh humiliation for the Liverpool academy graduate.

Alexander-Arnold enjoyed plenty of success at Liverpool, but on the international scene, he's been on the outside more often than not. He was always behind Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier in the pecking order and only started in midfield at Euro 2024.

Despite both of the aforementioned right-backs retiring, Alexander-Arnold's 26 minute cameo against Andorra are the only minutes he has received under Tuchel.

The difficulties he has endured in Madrid, including injuries and inconsistent opportunities, did not help his cause in Tuche'ls eyes. The German has reservations about the 27-year-old's defending, which he made clear in one of his first press conferences as Three Lions manager.

In May last year, he said: "I can see that sometimes he relies heavily on his offensive contributions, and gives not so much emphasis on the defensive discipline and effort.

"This major impact that he had for Liverpool over so many years, if he wants to have this impact in the English national team, then he has to take the defensive part very seriously.

"Because when we are talking, especially, about qualifying football and then tournament football, the one defensive error, the one moment where you are not 100 per cent awake, can be decisive, can be the moment where you pack your suitcases and go home.

"We will put this all into consideration, but now is the moment to get to know him. I know him. I played against him. I had phone calls with him.

"But now is the moment to feel him for nine or 10 days, feel him around the squad, see what he can do, what he can bring, and then from there we go."

In March, Alexander-Arnold aimed a dig at the England boss with a cryptic Instagram post, which featured a picture of himself playing against Atletico Madrid with the caption: "Madrid. Y nada mas" which translates to "Madrid, nothing else".
