Chelsea have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of highly-rated Lille youngster Ayyoub Bouaddi, with sources claiming the Blues have made contact over a potential deal as they look to move ahead of Premier League rivals Arsenal in the race for the teenage midfielder.
The 18-year-old has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in French football after breaking into Lille’s first-team setup and delivering a series of mature performances that have attracted attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
According to reports, CHELSEA have initiated discussions regarding the possibility of bringing Bouaddi to Stamford Bridge, with the West London club continuing its strategy of targeting elite young talent from across the continent.
Arsenal are also understood to be monitoring the midfielder closely, but Chelsea are believed to be making an early push in an effort to gain an advantage.
Bouaddi’s rapid rise has not gone unnoticed. Despite his age, the midfielder has impressed scouts with his technical ability, composure in possession and tactical intelligence. Capable of operating in a variety of midfield roles, he is regarded by many observers as one of the most exciting young players currently developing in Ligue 1.
Chelsea’s interest is consistent with the recruitment model adopted by the club in recent transfer windows. The Blues have invested heavily in emerging talents, seeking to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level for years to come.
