Inter Milan are expected to make a final bid for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones as they plan a construction of the ‘team of the future’.
Gazzetta dello Sport report that Inter want to establish themselves moving forwards following a double this year, and Liverpool’s midfielder is in their sights.
Bid to Liverpool incoming
According to the newspaper, the Italian champions are ready to relaunch their efforts for the 25-year-old after delaying a move in the January transfer window.
Jones has remained on their shortlist since then. Inter are convinced he is the right profile, or rather, ‘the perfect one’, to strengthen the backbone of their team.
He is also seen as a transfer opportunity given his current contract expires next summer. He can reach a pre-agreement in six months’ time to move anywhere on a free transfer next summer. Liverpool want to avoid that as he represents a pure capital gain on the books.
To acquire him now, Liverpool want €30m. So far Inter Milan have only offered €20m. The plan is to open up lines of communication again and present a final bid soon.
Jones asks about Italy
Jones, for his part, is on holiday. He was recently in Monaco for the Grand Prix and will be heading to Italy. He proposed to his wife and married her in the country as well. And he’s been asking Federico Chiesa about life in Italy as well.

“Jones asked me what life is like in Italy,” the Italian told Gazzetta.
“I told him it’s great and the weather is better than Liverpool, which other than that is a special place. Jones is really strong technically, Inter are right to think about him.”
Inter Milan appear to be taking that all as a sign he is interested in the move. In fact, they report that Jones was uninterested in leaving Liverpool until Inter made overtures. Now another bid is on the way as the Italians try to bridge the gap to the Reds’ asking price.
The hype around the bid is growing, with this the latest in a growing list of reports from Italy on the matter. And that’s unlikely to die down as the transfer window fully ramps up.
