Arsenal player edging towards Gunners exit – Home country’s media explain situation

Christian Nørgaard is edging towards a departure from Arsenal this summer but a return to former club Brøndby is considered unrealistic.

Bold cover the situation around the 32-year-old today and how a departure from the Gunners seems likely this summer.

Arsenal exit likely

They explain that while it has been a fantastic move for the midfielder, who arrived from Brentford last summer and ended up with a Premier League winners medal, he’s not in the long-term plans at the Emirates.

Bold report that there is a possibility he will become ‘surplus’ in the Arsenal squad for next season.

Alongside reports of Arsenal strengthening their central midfield options, he is also being ‘pressured internally’ from the likes of Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi.

There’s also been Miles Lewis-Skelly’s transition into midfield, where he impressed at the end of the season. It is that development which is putting pressure on Christian Nørgaard.

Arsenal ignoring option

Arsenal are yet to take up an option to extend his deal, which expires next summer. That’s a further indication that the Gunners are not planning with him.

The belief is that they will be receptive to offers. That’s despite the Dane being well liked and respected in the group.

It’s too early for a potential return to Brøndby, though. He has previously stated that he sees a move happening in 2027.

“At that time, I will be 33 years old, and hopefully my body is still in good shape,” he said.

“I am doing the things that are needed to extend my career and play at the highest possible level, so I can easily see myself coming home and making a difference and finishing in Brøndby.

“That is my dream scenario, if it is a match at that time. But it also depends on Brøndby.”

A move this summer is seen as too early in terms of his career planning. That could change during the summer, but the signs are not pointing that way at this moment in time.
