Transfer to Manchester United will see club move for Rangers player – Dominoes falling

Ederson’s impending move to Manchester United will see Atalanta turn to Glasgow Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin as a replacement.

Il Giorno report that the Rangers midfielder is on the Italian side’s list, alongside a pair of Brazilian talents.

Rangers star eyed as replacement

The newspaper reports that Atalanta’s management is closely monitoring the Rangers midfielder. That will continue at the World Cup this summer, where he will be a key figure for Belgium.

The Italian side see the 25-year-old as an ideal profile to replace Ederson. He’s still young, already experienced at a European level, has added to that at Ibrox, and is a regular for Belgium too.

Rangers value him at around €25m. That’s a price that Atalanta can presumably afford as Ederson makes his big money move to Manchester United.

He’s not the only name on the list, though. The Nerazzurri’s representatives are also in Brazil exploring two ‘Ederson-like’ players as well. The first of those Matheus Martinelli Lime and Evertton Araujo. The latter is also on Napoli’s radar.

Rangers to Italy

But Raskin would be the more senior signing and direct replacement. The Belgian midfielder has firmly established himself at Ibrox since joining for €1.5m in 2023.

145 appearances later, with 13 goals and 23 assists to his name, he’s very much a player ready for the next step. And with a €25m asking price Rangers are set for a major profit.

That profit could not only help to balance the books but also fund a rebuild under Derek McInnes this summer when he arrives to replace Danny Rohl as manager. There are reasons for them to accept a deal, even if it would mean losing a key player this summer.

Any move from Atalanta depends on Ederson’s move to Manchester United first, though. That’s the first domino that needs to fall before the Italian side make moves to find a replacement.
