The 2026 World Cup is dominating the football landscape, but attention is already shifting to an increasingly active summer transfer window.
Manchester United are targeting midfield reinforcements, with West Ham duo Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes on their radar. A deal for both could cost around £130m, though Real Madrid are also interested in Fernandes.
Sandro Tonali could also leave Newcastle this summer, with Tottenham among the clubs monitoring the Italian midfielder. Reports suggest the Magpies value him at around £100m.
Elsewhere, Lille and Morocco talent Ayyoub Bouaddi continues to attract interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.
According to BBC Sport, Derby County are in advanced talks to sign former Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark from Red Bull Salzburg in a deal worth £5m–£6m.
Clark spent his debut Championship season on loan at Derby County, quickly becoming a fan favourite and winning the club’s Young Player of the Season award. His versatility was key to his success under John Eustace, who helped develop his game across multiple positions.
Initially deployed in attacking midfield, Clark adapted to a deeper role amid an injury crisis and excelled alongside David Ozoh and Lewis Travis. That switch proved to be a turning point in his development, with both player and manager highlighting its importance.
The 21-year-old impressed with his maturity and adaptability in a demanding Championship campaign, including a standout performance in a 2-2 draw away at Ipswich Town.
Derby are now set to sign him permanently from Red Bull Salzburg in a deal worth £5m–£6m, with a medical expected later this week, as reported by The Telegraph’s John Percy.
Percy posted on X: “Derby are close to agreeing a deal worth around £6m with Red Bull Salzburg for midfielder Bobby Clark.
“Club is hopeful of Clark undergoing a medical later this week if talks continue to advance. Was Derby’s Young POTS last season after joining on loan.”
If Clark completes his move to Derby County, Liverpool will earn just over £1m through a 17.5% sell-on clause agreed with Red Bull Salzburg two years ago.
The Reds also hold a buy-back option, although they would need to match Derby’s offer to activate it, which appears unlikely.
Liverpool initially signed Clark from Newcastle for £1.5m in 2021, later selling him to Salzburg for a reported £10m, making an £8.5m profit at the time.
His spell in Austria was mixed, with 13 starts in 25 appearances, and his progress stalled after the departure of former Liverpool assistant coach Pep Lijnders.
The midfielder attracted interest from clubs across Europe, the United States and the Middle East before joining Derby on loan, where he impressed enough to earn a permanent move.
