Former Leeds United star linked with stunning £50m Man United move – David Ornstein

Unfortunately for Leeds United supporters, we have seen many players join our bitter rivals, Manchester United, over the years.

Rio Ferdinand, Eric Cantona and Alan Smith are just a few examples of players whose legacies at Elland Road will be forever tainted after having swapped the famous white shirt for a red one.

However, it hasn’t all been one-way traffic; the Whites have recruited the likes of Gordon Stachan and Johnny Giles from their rivals, with Dan James being the latest player to join us from Man United.

However, a former Leeds star looks as though he could be set to make the move to our biggest rivals this summer.

Former Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville linked with Manchester United move

Crysencio Summerville only left us to join West Ham for £25million back in 2024, but the Dutch winger could soon be on the move once again.

Summerville impressed for the most part despite the Hammers’ relegation from the Premier League last season, with five goals and two assists in 31 Premier League appearances.

According to the latest report from David Ornstein, Summerville is said to be high on the candidates Man United are considering this summer for a new left-winger.

The 24-year-old is expected to cost around £50million, double what we sold him for just two years ago.

Summerville is already not the most popular figure in our fan base, facing frosty receptions from the United supporters every time we played West Ham last season, and the winger can expect this relationship to go from bad to worse should he end up at Man United before the new campaign.

West Ham would do well to get £50million for Crysencio Summerville

Whilst Summerville has been better for West Ham last season, I do think his form has been slightly blown out of proportion.

The winger had a purple patch in January, where the bulk of his goal contributions for the season came.

Aside from that, his time at West Ham has been underwhelming, with Summerville struggling with injuries, so for West Ham, getting £50million for him would be an exceptional piece of business.

Aside from last season at West Ham and the season he had with us in the Championship, Summerville has not had any other notable seasons.

So essentially, Manchester United would be paying £50million for a winger who has enjoyed two good seasons, with one of those coming in the Championship.

It would certainly be a risk from our rivals, but I certainly hope Summerville doesn’t end up at Old Trafford.

Although he only had one season as a regular starter for us before moving on, he did come up through our youth ranks, and it would be a shame to see him go to Man United.

There has been some talk within our fanbase regarding whether you would take Summerville back at Leeds?

For £50million? It’s a firm no from me, and it is almost certainly a price the club would not be willing to pay anyway.

If Summerville thought his reception at Elland Road was hostile back in October, he has another thing coming if he returns wearing that red shirt, with even those who remain fond of the Dutchman firmly changing their outlook on the former Leeds man.
