Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has reacted after former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim was officially appointed as AC Milan’s new head coach.
Amorim was dismissed by United in January following a difficult 14-month spell in charge, but the Portuguese coach has now secured an immediate return to one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Earlier today, AC Milan officially confirmed Ruben Amorim as their new manager.
He signed an initial two-year contract with the option of a third season.
The 41-year-old was heavily linked with multiple different roles in recent weeks before the Serie A giants finally announced his arrival.
Amorim’s move to Italy follows his departure from Manchester United earlier this year, with Michael Carrick eventually being handed the managerial role after impressing during an interim spell.
He enjoyed enormous success in Portugal before arriving at Old Trafford.
The former Sporting CP manager won multiple league titles and domestic trophies while developing a reputation as one of Europe’s brightest young coaches.
Despite his struggles in Manchester, Amorim remains a respected figure among several Portuguese internationals who worked under him during his time at the club.
Dalot is among those players.
The United defender was a regular starter under Amorim and featured prominently in the manager’s preferred 3-4-3 formation during his spell at Old Trafford.
There is also an existing connection between Diogo Dalot and AC Milan.
The Portugal international spent the 2020/21 season on loan at the San Siro.
He made 33 appearances across all competitions before returning to Manchester United.
During his time in Italy, Dalot became a popular figure among supporters and gained valuable experience in Serie A.
Following AC Milan’s official unveiling of Amorim, Dalot appeared to acknowledge the appointment.
The reaction came on Instagram, where Milan shared a series of images welcoming Amorim to the club, including the first edition of the club’s official magazine featuring the Portuguese tactician on the cover.
