Manchester United materialising their interest in Morgan Rogers could well ‘hinge’ on Marcus Rashford being sold.
That’s according to Telegraph Sport’s James Ducker, who adds that Arsenal are also targeting the Aston Villa starlet.
Marcus Rashford: What’s the latest?
However, after the last fortnight’s developments, Rashford’s future needs to be resolved first and foremost.
Barcelona’s £26 million buy option expired on Monday without them activating it, meaning entirely new terms would have to be negotiated between the Blaugrana and United if he were to stay beyond the summer.
Although Rashford’s first choice was to continue in Catalonia, that’s looking increasingly unlikely. Barcelona want to take him on loan for another campaign after agreeing a £70m package for Anthony Gordon, and the Reds are only interested in facilitating a sale.
Bayern Munich are said to be among Rashford’s suitors, but he would need to accept a sizeable reduction on his exorbitant wages, which have increased to £325,000-a-week following United’s Champions League qualification.
Rogers among mooted Rashford replacements
Rogers, meanwhile, is expected to be on the move.

Rogers’ complete record in all competitions since signing for Aston Villa in 2024
He has enjoyed a stellar season in claret and blue, ending 2025/2026 as a Europa League champion, having scored in the final, and earning himself an England call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad.
United appreciate the ‘versatile’ 23-year-old, along with Crysencio Summerville, who netted for the Netherlands in their World Cup opener against Japan on Sunday.
Summerville is another player being tipped for a summer switch in the aftermath of the Irons’ relegation, with reports suggesting INEOS might look to complete a double acquisition of the attacker and midfielder Mateus Fernandes.
