Leeds United look increasingly likely to strengthen their goalkeeping department this summer as several key developments continue to unfold.

The club remain in discussions with Karl Darlow over a contract extension and are keen for the experienced Welshman to stay at Elland Road for at least another season.

However, there is still uncertainty surrounding his future. Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Darlow as an experienced understudy to Senne Lammens, leaving Leeds unsure whether they will be able to retain him.

As a result, the Whites may have to step up their search for a new goalkeeper sooner than expected, rather than waiting for Darlow’s situation to be resolved.

In fact, there is growing speculation that Leeds could soon move to secure the signing of an experienced Premier League shot-stopper, with the club having already been tipped to complete such a deal this summer.

Leeds United have been backed to sign Aaron Ramsdale

The Whites are in the market for a goalkeeper, and they have been heavily linked with a move for Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope this summer.

However, Ipswich Town’s interest in Pope is a complicating factor, and it has been claimed that he is also not a priority target for Leeds in the ongoing window.

Former Premier League scout Mick Brown feels Leeds should consider snapping up Aaron Ramsdale after he left Newcastle at the end of his loan stint.

He stressed that Ramsdale is a proven commodity in the Premier League and just needs a club to show faith in his ability next season.

“Leeds are in the market for a new goalkeeper, so they will be aware of his availability”, Brown told Football Insider.

“Ramsdale is likely to leave Southampton, and it’s clear he won’t be staying at Newcastle, so somebody like Leeds could well be tempted to take a gamble on him.
