Manchester City‘s Jérémy Doku has decided to prolong his relationship with the Premier League side.
The Belgium international arrived at the Etihad from Stade Rennais in August 2023 and was a regular under Pep Guardiola.
He managed 22 goals and 34 assists from 132 matches for Manchester City of which eight goals and 14 assists were from this season.
Guardiola has left the club and the Citizens are yet to appoint his successor. That won’t have a bearing on the 24-year-old, who remains a key part of their long-term plans.
Manchester City player’s renewal imminent
That’s according to La Dernière Heure, who report the latest on Jérémy Doku’s long-term future at the Etihad.
The forward’s contract runs down in 2028 and already received approaches from several unnamed clubs. However, he didn’t entertain them as ‘Manchester City were the absolute priority’.
This has helped the player and club progress for his renewal until 2031. The newspaper state the parties have already reached an agreement and only the official announcement is missing.
With the renewal, the Belgian will also improve his salary significantly. There’s no mention of his current or the new salary.

They claim Doku’s contract extension until 2031 is ‘imminent’ and the new deal will also improve his wages. He currently earns €3m, most likely net, per year, while there’s no clarity on his new salary.
Sources have informed Het Nieuwsblad that unnamed ‘wealthy clubs’ made contact in recent months. However, the player didn’t take them into consideration as his priority is to continue at Manchester City.
Manchester City working to contract renewals
As well as Jérémy Doku, Manchester City are also working on securing Joško Gvardiol’s renewal.
Recent claims have mentioned Real Madrid and Barcelona interest in the defender, who has a contract until 2028.
Two days ago, Sport Witness relayed news the Etihad club have no doubt Gvardiol will sign an extension before the start of the season.
