‘Exorbitant’ price doesn’t scare Arsenal – Gunners make contact for negotiations

Arsenal, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have shown keen interest in Atlético Madrid star Julián Alvarez.

Over the past few months, there’s been claims of the trio’s firm desire to sign the striker this summer.

Last week, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain insisting Arsenal could be the only option for the Argentine.

Los Rojiblancos have already rejected a €150m offer from Real Madrid and continue to insist Alvarez is not for sale.

Barcelona and others haven’t given up yet while also looking at other options.

Arsenal looking at Bournemouth

Wednesday’s edition of Sport claims the La Liga winners have identified Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane, AFC Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi and Real Sociedad’s Mikel Oyarzabal as Julián Alvarez’s main alternatives.

Kroupi arrived at the Premier League side last summer and starred in his debut season, scoring 13 goals from 33 league matches.

His performances didn’t go unnoticed in England and across Europe. In February, Sport Witness covered claims from France of the Gunners making initial contact for the 19-year-old.

Sport now mention Arsenal and PSG as Kroupi’s suitors when discussing the latest on the Catalan club.

The France U21 international is gaining popularity at the Camp Nou, especially with their sporting director, Deco. He admires the frontman, but a potential deal won’t be easy.

Bournemouth have set an initial price of €100m. This is an ‘exorbitant’ price, but the newspaper claims that doesn’t scare Arsenal and PSG.

Online, Sport add both Mikel Arteta’s side and the Champions League winners have made contact for possible negotiations this summer.

Not a given Arsenal will spend big

Eli Junior Kroupi has a contract until 2030, and Transfermarkt value him at €70m. His performances for AFC Bournemouth have seen his value rise from €15m in June 2025 to €70m now.

For now, the Premier League winners and PSG aren’t concerned about his hefty price tag. However, it’s not taken for granted that either Arsenal or Luis Enrique’s side will spend €100m this summer.

There’s also no clarity whether the player is open to a move and if so, his preference among the three clubs.
