Ex-Leeds United star on Manchester United transfer radar as part of £140m double swoop

The former Leeds United winger has impressed at the World Cup so far.

A former Leeds United winger is reportedly being eyed as part of a £140million double transfer swoop by Manchester United.

Crysencio Summerville left Leeds for West Ham in 2024 after his release clause, worth around £28m, was triggered. The Dutchman starred at Elland Road during the previous Championship campaign with 21 goals and 10 assists earning him multiple individual awards.

But play-off final defeat to Southampton left Leeds in the Championship and like Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter, Summerville made the step up elsewhere. The winger struggled during his first campaign at West Ham and the early parts of his second but burst into life earlier this year.

Summerville scored six goals in seven games across all competitions through the early months of 2026 and played a big part in keeping West Ham’s survival hopes alive until the final day. They beat Leeds 3-0 but victory for Tottenham Hotspur over Everton saw the Hammers relegated.

A handful of key players are now expected to leave West Ham, one being Summerville who is attracting interest from top Premier League and European clubs. The Daily Mail have since reported that Manchester United are weighing up a move for the 24-year-old as part of a London Stadium double swoop.

Summerville’s West Ham teammate Mateus Fernandes is also a target for Manchester United, who are in the market for additions in central midfield and out wide, should Marcus Rashford leave as expected. According to the Daily Mail, West Ham want up to £140million for their two players.

West Ham expect big profit on Crysencio Summerville

While Manchester United will want that fee to drop, it’s clear West Ham expect to make a decent profit on their £28m signing Summerville. The Athletic separately reports a value of around £50m for the tricky winger, who registered five goals and two assists in the Premier League last season.

Summerville’s eventual price-tag is likely to be affected by his World Cup exploits, which got off to a good start last weekend. The former Leeds man’s first ever appearance in the major tournament ended with a lovely curled finish in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Ao Tanaka’s Japan.

After that game, Summerville was reunited with one of the people who helped to facilitate his initial £1.5m move from Feyenoord to Leeds back in 2020. Gaby Ruiz was head of European recruitment at Elland Road under Victor Orta and is working for broadcaster DAZN this summer, speaking with the Dutchman live on air.

"Do you remember me Cry?" the former Leeds scout began. "Congratulations. I'm very happy for you. I remember when I told you that you would play a World Cup and now your dream is real and you even scored. Congratulations from the bottom of my heart."

Summerville remembered the conversation, responding: "Thank you Gaby. I'm always thankful and grateful for your vision to see me, to trust my ability and in my talent. I want to thank you and Victor [Orta] a lot."
