The World Cup may be in full swing, but so too is transfer season for Liverpool.
It's difficult to go more than a few hours without seeing a player linked with the Reds featuring in action across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The summer window is only three days old, yet that hasn't stopped Liverpool from being linked with the likes of Yan Diomande, Morocco's Ayyoub Bouaddi, and Germany's Nico Schlotterbeck.
However, it's the talk of a potential return to Anfield for Darwin Nunez that has truly captured the imagination, with the latest news bringing the Uruguayan's feelings about the Reds back to the fore. Meanwhile, Manchester United has outlined its terms for a potentially sensational transfer.
Nunez's thoughts on Liverpool
Speculation surrounding Nunez's return to the Reds has been rampant in recent days, following reports from within the Uruguayan World Cup camp suggesting he is set to re-sign for Liverpool this summer.
While those reports have been downplayed, with The Athletic claiming any suggestion of the striker rejoining the club is wide of the mark, Nunez's sentiments toward his former club have resurfaced.
The forward signed for Al-Hilal from Liverpool last summer, but was dropped from the squad following the arrival of Karim Benzema in January. However, recent comments suggest he still holds his former club close to his heart.

Speaking to AUFTV in March, he said: "Yes, I'd be lying if I said no, that I don't miss them. The truth is, they made me feel very good, and my family too.
"In difficult moments that I went through personally, the people always gave me that affection, that support, and that was very important to me. Obviously, I miss Liverpool, I miss them a lot."
Man Utd transfer blocked
Manchester United is understood to have prevented Liverpool and Manchester City from pursuing Marcus Rashford this summer.
The Athletic has revealed that the forward is available for £40 million ($53 million) under a clause in his contract, though it doesn't apply to the Reds or City, United's biggest rivals.
Rashford spent last season on loan at Barcelona, where he contributed to the club's La Liga triumph, netting 14 goals and providing 10 assists. Yet, the Catalan side has opted against making his switch permanent, and the 28-year-old is expected to return to Old Trafford.

Clubs such as Arsenal and Bayern Munich have been linked to Rashford. Former Liverpool goalkeeper David James believes the Reds ought to test the waters for the boyhood United fan with a cheeky bid.
"If I were Liverpool, I'd look to sign Marcus Rashford. I really would," James told BetVictor.
"Whether he plays on the left or the right isn't the main issue. Get him in first, and then you give it time to work out his best position. I think he's an outstanding footballer. His football intelligence is off the scale, and so is his ability."
