Liverpool may look to seal specific signing as well as£60m ace this summer - Sky Sports

**Liverpool haven’t ruled out the possibility of signing an experienced centre-back in the summer transfer window, following the departure of Ibrahima Konate.**

It has been a summer of big-name departures at Anfield, with Konate sealing a move to Real Madrid and sending a goodbye message to Reds supporters on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/reel/DZAktcTN31X/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=Ai7Bs6CVHSW5ekIlgpUvpST), which included:

_“I leave with memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Representing this club has been an honour. We’ve shared incredible moments together… highs and lows, trophies, challenges, lifelong friendships, and heartbreaking moments that will stay with us forever, none more painful than losing our brother Diogo._

_“Losing my father this year was one of the hardest periods of my life, but even through hardship, my commitment to this club never changed. During the toughest moments, I gave everything I had for this badge. To my teammates, coaches, staff and everyone behind the scenes, thank you for helping me grow every single day._

_“And to the supporters… thank you for your love, your energy, and your incredible support. Anfield is truly a special place, and playing in front of you was something I never took for granted.”_

With Konate gone, Liverpool look light at centre-back, and [_Sky Sports_](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/13552983/transfer-news-every-premier-league-clubs-plans-for-summer-window-2026) report that the Reds may not look to sign an experienced head alongside £60m addition Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes.

While it isn’t a priority, they may “revisit their stance later in the window”, potentially looking to bring in a versatile player in the mould of Joe Gomez.

**Liverpool need a proven centre-back option this summer**

----------------------------------------------------------

Going into the season with Virgil van Dijk and an injury-prone Gomez as the only proven centre-back options for Liverpool would be a huge risk, which is why another signing is needed there.

Jacquet is a player with so much potential, as is the case with Giovanni Leoni, but they are both still a work in progress and need to learn at their own pace.

Marcos Senesi seemed like an ideal signing for Liverpool, given his experience and the fact that he played for Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth, but he is off to Tottenham instead.

Bringing in a player of that ilk makes perfect sense for the Reds, though, especially as Van Dijk now needs to be managed with more care as he approaches his 35th birthday.
