Detroit Lions Add Pair of UFL Wide Receivers Following Championship Season

The Detroit Lions continue to search for talent in every corner of the football world.

According to James Larsen of Pro Football Newsroom, the Lions are signing wide receivers Lucky Jackson and Tarik Black following standout performances with the UFL’s Louisville Kings.

Both players played key roles in helping Louisville capture a UFL championship, and their success has now earned them an opportunity to compete for a roster spot in Detroit.

Lucky Jackson, Tarik Black Earn NFL Opportunity

Jackson and Black were among Louisville’s most productive offensive weapons during the 2026 UFL season.

Jackson finished the year with 392 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Black recorded 387 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Their production helped power one of the UFL’s most successful teams and caught the attention of Lions decision-makers looking to add competition to the wide receiver room ahead of training camp.

While neither player is guaranteed a spot on Detroit’s final 53-man roster, both will have the opportunity to impress coaches during camp and the preseason.

Familiar Name Returns to Michigan

Black’s arrival in Detroit could be especially intriguing for local football fans.

The former Michigan Wolverines wide receiver entered college with significant expectations as a highly touted recruit. Injuries limited parts of his collegiate career, but he later transferred to Texas and continued pursuing his NFL dream.

Now, after revitalizing his professional career in the UFL, Black will get another shot to prove he belongs at the NFL level.

Lions Continue Looking for Depth

Detroit’s top receiving options remain firmly established with Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams leading the way.

However, the Lions have consistently shown a willingness to bring in competition throughout the offseason. General manager Brad Holmes has built much of Detroit’s roster by identifying overlooked talent and creating opportunities for players to earn roles.

Adding Jackson and Black follows that same philosophy.

With training camp approaching, both receivers will now look to turn a successful UFL season into a longer stay in Allen Park.
