Olivier Pantaloni appointed OGC Nice manager
OGC Nice have confirmed, via their website, the appointment of Olivier Pantaloni as their new first-team manager on a two-year contract.
The move comes after a difficult period for the Ligue 1 side, who narrowly avoided relegation after a tense play-off victory over AS Saint-Etienne.
Claude Puel, who had been in charge on an interim basis since December, has now left the club following the expiry of his contract.
Earlier in the day, Nice confirmed his departure in the same statement that also secured the continued presence of club president Maurice Cohen.
Olivier Pantaloni arrives from FC Lorient, where he impressed over two solid Ligue 1 campaigns before leaving at the end of last season due to concerns over trust from the club hierarchy.
Now back in the south of France, the new Nice boss says he is determined to make his mark.
“It’s an immense source of pride for me to manage a club like OGC Nice.
“I am delighted today to be returning to the south of France and to a club I know well, having played here for a time.
“I arrive in Nice with great humility but also great determination.
“I want to respect the club. I will instil the values that I hold dear: humility, hard work, respect, determination and ambition.
“It is up to us to live up to the supporters’ expectations and restore OGC Nice to its former glory.”
The appointment signals another reset for Nice as they look to move past a turbulent campaign and stabilise their direction under INEOS-linked ownership influence.
