Ruben Amorim’s career is finally taking its next steps after six months of speculation and questions following his sacking from Manchester United.

The former Sporting CP manager, who won two Liga Portugal titles with the club, emerged as a leading contender for the new AC Milan managerial post earlier this month.

Amorim would go onto secure the job, signing on a contract until 2028 with an option for an extra year and taking over a club that finished fifth in Serie A last season.

His appointment comes at a time of great speculation for AC Milan. Massimiliano Allegri has gone, Amorim has come in, and other key names have also left the club.

Question marks are left unanswered about how the former Manchester United manager will approach his first managerial spell in Italy and about how he will use the transfer window to his advantage.

With his appointment confirmed, one thing is for certain though. Given that both Manchester United and AC Milan are due to meet in a friendly on August 15th, Amorim will be reunited with his old employers.

Manchester United has changed a considerable amount since Ruben Amorim left, even in the short period that has elapsed.

Michael Carrick came into the club, securing Champions League qualification and the managerial job on a permanent basis.

Casemiro has now left the club, and will play his football in America next season, whilst the club are constructing an effective recruitment strategy for the transfer window.

United will continue to change before August in an effort to become better and could look very different to the club that Ruben Amorim left, when the two clubs meet in August.

The manager’s reunion with Manchester United presents the club with an opportunity to demonstrate improvement, make a good impression, and progress even further.
