A construction worker died while working at the site of the new Denver Broncos training facility
Co-workers found the victim unresponsive in a "confined ceiling area"
The new $175-million facility is scheduled to open this summer
A subcontractor who was working at the site of the new Denver Broncos training facility was found dead on Monday, June 15, authorities said.
Arapahoe County sheriff’s deputies responded to a medical emergency at the construction site, located at 13409 E. Broncos Parkway, southeast of downtown Denver, at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Monday, the sheriff’s office said.
The construction worker, whose name has not been released, was found unresponsive by co-workers in a “confined ceiling area.”
South Metro Fire Rescue crews responded and used tools to gain access to the worker, who was pronounced dead at the scene despite the rescue efforts.
The cause and manner of death are under investigation by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

A spokesperson for the team did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
In a statement obtained by NBC Sports, the Broncos expressed condolences about the incident.
“The Denver Broncos are heartbroken to learn a subcontractor working on our new training center passed away Monday while on-site,” the team said in a statement. “We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the individual’s family, coworkers and friends during this difficult time.”
Turner Construction Company also issued a statement via the Broncos.
"We extend our heartfelt condolences to the worker's family, loved ones, friends, and colleagues during this very difficult time," the company said. "Work at the site has been suspended as we support the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. This is a heartbreaking loss for the worker's family, loved ones, friends, colleagues, and all those impacted by this tragedy."
Construction on the $175-million facility known as Broncos Park began in 2024 and it is expected to be completed by this summer.

In a press release, the team describes the project as a “state-of-the-art, 205,000-square-foot, three-story facility that consolidates both football and business operations, featuring a player-centric first floor designed for maximum efficiency, a mass-timber design, and an underground parking garage.”
