Chiefs WR Rashee Rice Receives Positive Knee Injury Update After Release From Jail

Rashee Rice is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, and is considered one of the most talented as well. He has been an integral part of the Kansas City Chiefs team and has helped them to win the Super Bowl in 2024.

Despite his immense talent and skills on the field, he is known for his problems off it. After much doubt regarding him, a positive update has been revealed.

Rashee Rice receives positive injury update after release from jail

Rice was jailed and served a 30-day sentence for a probation violation. He had previously tested positive for THC, triggering the sentence tied to his role in a 2024 high-speed crash in the Dallas area that injured multiple people. He was released after he finished serving that sentence.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that Rice underwent a cleanup surgery on his right knee roughly one week before entering jail to remove loose debris causing inflammation. Despite being in custody, the player received court-approved treatment at Parkland Hospital and continued rehabilitation, including physical therapy. While in jail, he has not suffered any further problems in his knee.

Fowler said, “He is going to continue to rehab a knee injury that he had surgically repaired shortly before he went into prison. I was told that was an issue because he was worried about maybe getting an infection while he was in prison, because he couldn’t rehab like he normally would. He did emerge with no major issues, so he’s gonna rehab that over the next six weeks, get ready for training camp.”

Rice will likely be prepared to join the Chiefs training camp after he recovers after the reported six-week period. Previously, he missed voluntary OTAs and mandatory minicamp due to the legal situation and his injury. Rice’s release from jail also prompted quite an interesting piece of news.

Rashee Rice sprints to avoid reporters after release from jail

After he was released from jail on June 16, 2026, Rice was involved in quite a unique matter. While getting out of jail after his release, local media and reporters were present to grab footage of him and ask him questions.

However, instead of answering questions, the wide receiver attempted to walk backwards to hide his face and also had his hoodie pulled up. He later ran out of the building while being chased by reporters. He kept quiet despite questions from the reporters and later entering a black SUV and driving away. Footage of him running away has gone viral.

Rashee Rice will now be expected to rejoin the Kansas City Chiefs, and prepare for the 2026 NFL season.
