Yeovil Town’s first season back in the National League was a campaign about staying in the division rather than threatening to climb out of it.

Promoted as National League South champions in 2023/24, the Glovers spent stretches of 2025/26 in the wrong half of the fifth-tier table before settling into mid-table.

This all came under a season of change that included a takeover by owner Prabhu Srinivasan and a managerial picture that eventually left Billy Rowley in charge.

A run to the FA Trophy quarter-finals gave the supporters something to hold onto, but consolidation, not glory, was the headline of the year at Huish Park.

That makes the summer an important one as the 2026/27 season is about turning survival into something steadier, and Rowley’s recruitment so far points to a squad being rebuilt with younger, hungrier profiles who can grow into the level.

Taking to their official website, Yeovil Town have confirmed the signing of Jack Kingdon, a former Manchester United academy defender, on a one-year deal with the option of a further year.

Announcing the signing of Kingdon, the club statement read: “The 20-year-old centre-back arrives at Huish Park after a strong rise through the professional game, with experience across both academy and senior football environments.”

It continues: “Kingdon joins the Glovers having attracted interest from multiple clubs in the Football League and National League, with Yeovil winning the race for his signature.”

Describing his playstyle, Yeovil commented: “Comfortable on the ball and composed in possession, Kingdon is a modern centre-back who has built a reputation for his leadership, reading of the game and ability to step into senior football at a young age.

“Now linking up with Billy Rowley’s squad, he adds further defensive quality and long-term potential to the Glovers’ back line ahead of the new season.

“Everyone at Yeovil Town welcomes Jack to Huish Park and looks forward to seeing him in green and white.”

Kingdon’s route to Somerset runs through Carrington as before his move to South Wales with Cardiff City, he came through an impressive youth setup at Manchester United, where he captained the Under-18s during a trophy-winning campaign.

He stepped up into the Under-21s and gained further senior exposure through the club’s Pro Experience Scheme, including a training spell with Altrincham.
