Saleh’s system brings excitement as Titans minicamp comes to close

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Titans concluded their offseason program with the final day of on-field minicamp activities. One of the biggest takeaways is the shift in defensive philosophy under first-year head coach Robert Saleh.

Saleh has changed the culture of the defense with an approach described as fast, physical, and violent. The strategy represents an entirely different version from the Titans’ defense in 2025.

The agenda is to be on the attack. Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons said the change is something he has not had many chances to do in his career, but it is a change he and the entire defensive line room are excited for.

“I love this type of defense, to be able to be on the other side of the line of scrimmage each and every play,” Simmons said. “I think it’ll help me make a lot more plays in the backfield, and it’ll help this team for sure.”

Defensive lineman Kevin Faulk said he loves playing in this type of defense.

“That’s what I wish I really could have done in college, don’t get me wrong, I love what I did in college, but if I could have just gotten off the rock, it would have been a really fun couple of years,” Faulk said. “I really love playing in this type of defense. I don’t feel like any D-lineman would say no to that, any D-lineman would just love to go every play.”

The Titans will conclude their offseason with a family-style BBQ on Thursday before they leave for summer break. Training camp starts in late July.
