The Denver Broncos are coming off a season that saw them advance all the way to the AFC Championship game. Bo Nix has quickly developed into one of the better starters in the NFL and led his team to a 14-3 regular season record. Unfortunately, Nix broke his foot prior to the AFC Championship game and was unable to play.
Now, going into 2026 the team will be without one of their wide receivers for the season.

Broncos Wide Receiver Out For The 2026 Season
Having been waived by the Denver Broncos with an injury designation on Tuesday, wide receiver Michael Woods has cleared the NFL’s waiver wire and has been placed on injured reserve.
In light of the fact that the Broncos have not yet established their 53-man roster, Woods has been placed on season-ending injured reserve. This season, Woods will not be eligible to play unless he receives a settlement from Denver regarding his injury and is released.
On Tuesday, the Broncos also waived cornerback Paul Manning. Unlike Woods, Manning received a settlement for his injury. As a result of clearing waivers today, Manning is now a free agent and can sign with any team of his choice.
To replace Woods and Manning, Denver signed two players from the UFL: wide receiver Hakeem Butler and cornerback/returner Sean Fresch.
On Wednesday, the team concluded Day 2 of mandatory minicamp. In light of the fact that coach Sean Payton cancelled Thursday’s practice, the players will now be on summer break.
