Victor Munoz has already completed his medical ahead of a £34.6 million move to Liverpool, after medical staff flew out to Spain’s World Cup camp in the US.
Munoz is currently with Spain at the World Cup but his involvement in their campaign has not stalled a surprise move to Liverpool.
The Reds have moved quickly to trigger the 22-year-old’s €40 million (£34.6m) release clause and agree a six-year contract.
Osasuna will receive half of that fee with the other €20 million going to former club Real Madrid, while Liverpool will pay it in two instalments.
Despite the story only emerging late on Wednesday night, Sky Sports‘ Vinny O’Connor reports that Munoz has completed his medical with the transfer now imminent.

A formal announcement is likely to come shortly, while the young attacker returns his focus to the World Cup following a disappointing 0-0 draw with Cape Verde earlier this week.
Spain are still to play Saudi Arabia (Sunday) and Uruguay (June 27) in their remaining games in Group H, with Munoz going unused in their opening fixture.

Liverpool retain their strong interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, who is considered a priority target following the departure of Mo Salah.
But there had long been a sense that at least two new attackers were required this summer and Munoz’s versatility – a natural left winger but capable of playing on the right and up front – could see him replace Federico Chiesa.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola is also a target but it remains to be seen whether this deal impact Liverpool’s chances of signing the Frenchman.
