Atlético Madrid would favour selling Julián Álvarez to Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain over Barcelona.
Arsenal and the two other clubs have shown interest in the striker and have been battling for his signature.
Earlier this month, we relayed news of the Gunners preparing a move to sign the 26-year-old.
Last week, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that Arsenal have both the interest and finances to carry out this operation. There was an insistence Mikel Arteta’s side could be the best option for the Argentina international.
Barca aware of agreement with Arsenal and PSG
Los Rojiblancos had a public spat with the La Liga winners over the World Cup winner and have refused to sell him.
However, Julián Álvarez has informed Atlético Madrid of his desire to leave and make a switch to the Camp Nou.
That’s according to Thursday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo, who also cover the latest on Arsenal and PSG.
Hansi Flick’s side have found out Atlético Madrid aren’t opposed to his sale but prefer to sell him to the Gunners or the Champions League winners.
Barca are also aware of Diego Simeone’s side reaching an agreement with both Arsenal and the French club.
Mundo relay El Chiringuito’s claim of the Gunners’ proposal of €50m plus Viktor Gyökeres in exchange for the South American. However, the Argentine refused to be part of this deal.
Álvarez is opposing Atlético’s agreements with these two clubs and is ‘resisting with all his might so far’.
Sources have informed Mundo that Barcelona won’t have it easy unless he makes an effort, like publicly asking to leave Atlético.
He is focusing on the World Cup and Barca are unlikely to make any concrete progress until after the tournament.
In other words, the saga could drag on, and this could give Arsenal and PSG hope even though the player isn’t keen on joining them.
