As Liverpool closes in on signing Victor Munoz as the next major addition to Andoni Iraola's roster of players, there has been uncertainty over the role of Real Madrid in proceedings.

The Reds have triggered the release clause in the 22-year-old's deal at Osasuna, having agreed personal terms with the winger on a six-year contract at Anfield. The Spanish winger impressed in his first full season of senior soccer, featuring 36 times for Los Rojillos following his $5.6 million switch from Real Madrid.

That move from the Bernabeu to Osasuna is at the center of some complicated details when it comes to Munoz's transfer to Liverpool, however.

Reports from Spain had claimed that the deal to join the Merseyside outfit includes a buy-back clause for Real Madrid, as the club technically owns 50 percent of the player's rights following his move across La Liga last summer.

That system in Spain works different to that of England and the Premier League, where the rights aren't traded in part, but outright as full transfers between clubs.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, the transfer from Osasuna to Liverpool does not include a buy-back clause for Real Madrid, snuffing out any chance of the club triggering a deal in the future.

Jose Mourinho's team will be owed 50 percent of the transfer fee, however, meaning the club receives a healthy $23 million boost from the completed deal.

On top of that, Real Madrid does have the right of first refusal over Munoz's next transfer, meaning the club can match any offer that Liverpool accepts for the 22-year-old winger in the future.

It clears up any potential lingering doubts over the transfer switch, ruling Real Madrid out of the conversation for now, and allowing the forward to focus on his future at Anfield.

There will be plenty of competition for him when he arrives, as the versatile star will be competing with Rio Ngumoha and Cody Gakpo on the left, as well as Alexander Isak up front.

The right flank may offer a greater chance of involvement, but talks are ongoing for Liverpool to sign Yan Diomande, adding even greater depth on that side.

It remains to be seen exactly where Munoz may fit into the team, but there is some hope that he can fulfill his potential to become a regular in whatever position he may feature.
