Hull City could help Virgil van Dijk leave Liverpool this summer, courtesy of a move for defender Victor Nelsson.
Haber Sarikizmiri cover the situation and how Hull’s move would help to cover Galatasaray’s efforts to get the Liverpool captain this summer.
Hull make offer for Nelsson
They explain that Galatasaray are continuing a planned rebuild this summer and evaluating offers for players who have received offers. One of those is Victor Nelsson.
Hull City, owned by Acun Ilıcalı, have already made an offer for the 27-year-old. He’s not in Galatasaray or coach Okan Buruk’s plans and has been placed on the transfer list. The Turkish side expect to bring in around €10m for the Danish defender.
That would go into the budget to help cover for Van Dijk. According to Haber’s information, the Dutch star wants to leave Liverpool this summer. He is very eager to play for Galatasaray next season.
He would cost the Turkish side around €12-15m a year. So €10m from Nelsson’s sale to Hull, plus other business, would help to cover the costs.
Liverpool transfer fee talks
That’s just the costs of the 34-year-old’s contract, though. He still has a year left at Anfield so there would be a need to solve out a deal with Liverpool.
Haber, though, insist that if Van Dijk reaches an agreement with Galatasaray, he will resolve that matter himself.
This report is the latest of several linking the Liverpool defender with a move to Türkiye in recent weeks. Indeed, Sport Witness covered a report last week explaining that Galatasaray were stepping up their efforts.
Now it appears that their efforts could be determined by outgoings first. If they can raise the funds by selling Nelsson to Hull, and other players, they’ll have the funds available to cover Van Dijk’s considerable wage packet. So, attention now turns to the Premier League newcomers and their plans.
