Victor Munoz has signed his contract as a new Liverpool player according to Fabrizio Romano.
For weeks the noise was all about Newcastle closing in on the Osasuna winger, only for Liverpool to step in behind the scenes, trigger his clause and get the paperwork done before anyone really knew what was happening.
In many ways it feels like a classic Anfield ambush, with even journalists closest to the club likewise being blindsided like fans. For Newcastle fans, it will feel like déjà vu after the Hugo Ekitike hijack in the summer of 2025.
The transfer has been wrapped up so quickly that Munoz has even completed his medical in the United States while away on international duty at the World Cup.
Taking to Instagram, the Italian journalist reported:
“Víctor Muñoz has signed his contract at Liverpool, here we go confirmed.”
“The agreement is valid until June 2032 for Spanish winger as hijack was completed by activating the €𝟒𝟎𝐦 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞.”
“Víctor Munoz has also completed his medical in the US. Exclusive story, confirmed.”
The 22‑year‑old Spain international is a right‑footed winger who has been shining on the left for Osasuna, combining direct running with the ability to come inside and threaten goal, hitting seven goals last season in La Liga.
He is former Real Madrid youngster with just two senior appearances before moving on.
Half of his fee will reportedly go back to the Bernabeu due to a hefty sell‑on clause. It’s another indication of how highly he has been regarded for some time in Spain.
Now, though, his future lies at Anfield, where Liverpool will hope his pace, pressing and eye for goal can give their attack a fresh dimension and provide serious competition in the wide positions for years to come.
