West Ham are now demanding £50m from teams interested in signing Crysencio Summerville, according to reports.

It had been suggested in the Italian media that the Hammers were looking for a fee between €30m (£26m) and €35m (£30m), with Roma keen on the Netherlands international.

However, The Athletic are claiming that Summerville’s asking price is £50m, with Manchester United now also pursuing the player.

There has been plenty of reaction to the change in valuation among supporters on X:

50m is too cheap. If Kudus is 50m Summerville should be 60-65 at the very least.

They can be as serious as they like. It won't be serious until they stump up the money

40-45 would be realistic I think United could get Fernandes and him for 120-130m combined

The player’s World Cup performances could help West Ham

New majority shareholder Daniel Kretinsky spoke out at the weekend, stating that the Irons are not in a position where they have to sell.

He is clearly setting his stall out in terms of ensuring that the club’s best players are not offloaded on the cheap this summer.

In terms of Summerville, that cause will be greatly helped by the player scoring his first goal for his country at the World Cup in the Netherlands’ 2-2 draw against Japan on Sunday.

Man Utd may only bid for Summerville if one thing happens

The Athletic have said that the Red Devils won’t be making an offer for the West Ham star unless they can find a buyer for Marcus Rashford first.

Barcelona’s option to buy the England international for €30m (£26m) expired on Monday. There is a release clause whereby clubs (other than Manchester City and Liverpool) can pay £40m to sign him, but like with Summerville, the level of interest may be dependent on how well he does at the World Cup.
