Real Madrid have completed the signing of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea earlier this week.
The Spain international has now explained Los Blancos wrapped up this operation quickly.
Three days prior to his move, the fullback publicly said he was “very happy” at Chelsea.
A day later, Cucurella revealed he’d held talks with Xabi Alonso and was excited to play under his compatriot at Stamford Bridge next season.
However, he has ended his four-year spell at the Premier League side to join Real Madrid.
How Real Madrid signed him from Chelsea
The left-back is now with the national team at the World Cup, and this gave El Mundo an opportunity to have a detailed chat with him.
When asked whether Real Madrid completed his signing in a ‘blink of an eye’, he said: “Yes, absolutely. I think it was all done in a day and a half or two. Much better for me, much faster, without any headaches. It’s finally closed, and I’m very happy.
“I think it was Sunday afternoon, more or less. That’s when they told me that everything was more or less done, that there were some paperwork issues and signatures left, but nothing serious. I think we had it all done in a day or a day and a half.”
Last month, Sport Witness relayed news Atlético Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City had expressed their interest in Marc Cucurella.
El Mundo didn’t mention any club but asked why he picked Real Madrid over others.
“Well, in the end there were different options, but when the Real Madrid offer came along, I didn’t hesitate. I think it’s a unique opportunity,” Cucurella explained.
“Playing for Real Madrid is an honour, and not many players can say that, so I had no doubts. I think both I and my family and those around me were clear that it was an opportunity we couldn’t refuse, and I’m very happy with the decision we made.”

The former Chelsea man came up through the ranks of Barcelona’s academy. However, he couldn’t cement a place on their first team.
El Mundo asked what he has to say to Barcelona fans who don’t understand how the academy graduate can join their biggest rival.
“I tell them that life has different stages. In this case, I’ve had to make an important decision, and I have no doubts; I think it’s a big step for me,” he added.
“When you’re a kid, you dream of playing for big teams, and I think Real Madrid is one of them. It’s the team with the most Champions League in the world, and I hope to win titles with them and have a great time there.”
