Super agent predicts huge bid for player Liverpool are 'closest' to signing

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move to sign Sporting Lisbon star Francisco Trincao this summer, with his agent now suggesting it will take a huge bid to secure his signature.

The 26-year-old has found great success in Portugal since returning to his home country after a failed stint at Wolves, where he scored just three goals in addition to just one assist.

In 208 games for Sporting, Trincao has 47 goals and 51 assists. It’s safe to say he’s refound his mojo, contributing 13 goals and 18 assists in 2025-26 alone.

With Liverpool in the market for a Mohamed Salah replacement, the Portuguese press has heavily linked the Reds with a move to sign him in 2026, which would provide a chance to redeem himself in the Premier League just as Salah did. The Egyptian ‘flopped’ at Chelsea before spending several years in Italy, returning to England to become the greatest right winger the English top flight has ever seen.

Of course, this is an anomaly and not indicative of repeat instances in the future, but football is a mysterious game.

Jorge Mendes predicts Francisco Trincao will cost a lot more than has been reported amid links to Liverpool

On 9 June, Portuguese daily newspaper Record reported that Liverpool were ‘the closest to bringing‘ Trincao back to the Premier League after his failed spell with Wolves. Nothing concrete has been reported in England, but the links persist in Portugal.

Now, Coreiro da Manha have provided a fresh update, although the latest development has less to do with Liverpool’s supposed interest and more to do with how much signing Trincao will cost this summer.

Trincao is in America for the World Cup, so his future will likely only be sorted in late July, but his super agent, Jorge Mendes, has reportedly ‘assured‘ the player and Sporting alike that a significant offer for his services will arrive this summer.

Trincao’s contract with Sporting includes a €60m (£50.5m) release clause and the expected bid will likely come very close to that amount, with Mendes reportedly claiming that the difference will be comprised of performance-related bonuses.

Liverpool have been linked but a bid has not been submitted yet, nor has there been any mention of the interest from the likes of Paul Joyce, David Ornstein or Fabrizio Romano. If the Reds are indeed plotting a move to sign Trincao, they’re keeping their cards close to their chest domestically speaking.
