Liverpool striker Alexander Isak is training under a personalised regimen at Sweden’s 2026 World Cup camp to manage his fitness.
Isak scored in the 30th minute of Sweden’s World Cup opening group stage clash with Tunisia, making it two goals and two assists since he left Liverpool for international duty. His return to form is a great boost for the Reds after a season of toil and trouble.
Liverpool spent £125m to sign Isak from Newcastle United last summer, but when he broke his leg in December, that investment and the season at large was put at risk.
Arne Slot was sacked at the end of the season, which means he has a fresh slate under Andoni Iraola waiting for him when he returns to Merseyside for pre-season. Like the rest of Liverpool’s World Cup participants, Isak will be given an extended break to rest and recover from what has been a long and emotional 2025-26 season.
Alexander Isak, that is outrageous!! ??

Sweden FA releases statement concerning Alex Isak’s personalised training programme
A press release made to The Sweden Herald now reports that Isak is training under a personalised programme to manage his risk of re-injury after the 26-year-old spent most of the season unfit or recovering from his broken leg.
The release reads: “Sweden’s attacking star Alexander Isak trained individually on Wednesday, three days before the match against the Netherlands.
“One player is training individually, and that’s Alexander Isak. He is following an individual program as part of extra recovery after the match,” says the national team’s press officer, Petra Thorén.
“He will be out on the field some of the time and the rest in the gym.”
Liverpool can challenge on multiple fronts if Isak is fit and the summer transfer window is a success
Isak arrived at Anfield in the summer after going on strike to force his move away from Newcastle. The result was that he trained alone for the duration of the summer transfer window, completing his Premier League record transfer to Liverpool on Deadline Day. This meant he did not have a pre-season and his lack of fitness was evident.
Arne Slot and his coaching staff failed to get Isak up to speed for several months, with the striker breaking his leg against Spurs in December before he was fully fit.

He then spent the majority of the remainder of the season recovering, playing just 22 games for a total of 1,032 minutes. Isak scored four goals.
Now, he seems to be in form again, although there remain concerns around his fitness, with the Swedish FA taking care to avoid aggravating any remaining problems.
However, if Liverpool can get him back fully fit and firing, there is no reason why he cannot return to the form that saw him contribute 23 goals and 6 assists in his final season for Newcastle.
Liverpool are also reportedly working hard to complete a deal to sign Yan Diomande worth a potential £112m. If the Ivorian joins the Reds, his direct style of play will be perfect for a classic No.9 like Isak.
After paying so much for Isak, not to mention his £280,000 per week wage, Liverpool and FSG will be hoping they can see his best next season.
