Former Newcastle United midfielder Jermaine Jenas thinks it would be “a great move” for Lewis Hall if he ends up joining Manchester United this summer.
The Red Devils are said to have made the Magpies defender their top left-back target, and speaking to 10bet about the prospect of a transfer to Old Trafford, Jenas said it would benefit Hall’s career:
“I think it’s a great move for him. I really do. He’s had a fantastic couple of years at Newcastle. I think he was obviously a huge Newcastle United fan after going there from Chelsea and so on, but he’s one of those players that people looked at and said he should probably be at the World Cup.”

“Like I said, he’s had a good, solid year; his development year-in, year-out seems to be getting better and better. For a club like Manchester United to come in for him is a huge step in the right direction—not only for United, because he’s just consistent week-in, week-out, but it’s also a big loss for Newcastle, I’m not going to lie. For him and his personal career, it’s a great move.”
Newcastle are reluctant to sell Hall
An asking price of around £60m has been mentioned in the media, but some sources have suggested that the Magpies may hold out for more than double what they paid for the player
Hall made the switch from Chelsea to St James’ Park on a permanent basis for £35m (including add-ons) in the summer of 2024.
Are Man Utd looking at other left-backs?
Marc Cucurella’s name was briefly mentioned before he joined Real Madrid, and there has been some interest in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown. However, the German seems poised to join Bayern Munich.
Another potential option is Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde, but it is felt that the Spaniard would have only been made available if the La Liga champions had won the race for Cucurella.
