Agent Jorge Mendes Has‘Opened Talks’As Man Utd Make Big Decision Over Midfielder’s Transfer

Man Utd will sell midfielder Manuel Ugarte for a cut-price £30m this summer, according to reports.

The Uruguayan international has struggled to perform since securing a €60m (£52m) move from Paris Saint-Germain two years ago, and The Mirror claim he will be allowed to leave if a team matches his valuation.

At the moment, it appears AC Milan are the favourites to sign Ugarte, with former Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim now in charge of the Rossoneri.

There is a chance that he could be reunited with the player he has worked with twice before at Sporting Lisbon and the Red Devils.

The Mirror report that Ugarte’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has “opened talks” to discuss a potential deal, which would add more funds to United’s transfer budget.

Milan are not interested in matching Man Utd’s price tag

At the moment, Milan chief executive Giorgio Furlani is said to be hesitant about paying the £30m required for Ugarte.

For that figure, though, it is likely that other clubs will enter the battle for the 25-year-old over the coming days and weeks.

Ugarte’s exit would make 3 midfield signings possible

Currently, it is believed that Director of Football Jason Wilcox and manager Michael Carrick are looking to recruit two new additions in the middle of the park.

Ederson’s £39m move to Old Trafford will be officially confirmed next month, and United are also pushing hard to snap up Mateus Fernandes from West Ham (who is also a Mendes client).

However, there have been reports that a third midfielder could be brought in if they manage to offload Ugarte for a decent fee, although the chances are it wouldn’t be a blockbuster deal.

Carrick’s side have been linked with Barcelona’s Marc Casado this week. The Spaniard could be bought for just €20m (£17m) this summer.
